Hyderabad – In a determined push towards eradicating Tuberculosis (TB) in the state, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma announced a goal of achieving a TB-free status by 2025 during the launch of the 75th TB Seal Sale Campaign held at the Darbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. The Governor emphasized the curability of TB and called for a united effort to eliminate the disease from Telangana. While addressing the attendees, Governor Varma, who also serves as the President of the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana, underscored the importance of adherence to treatment plans for TB patients.

"It is essential for patients to follow their treatment plans meticulously," he stated, highlighting the advancements in treatment options available under the National TB Control Programme. The Governor urged for increased community involvement and family support at all levels, asserting that such engagement is crucial in the fight against TB. "To achieve a TB-free India by 2025, we must ensure that everyone plays their part in this battle," he added.

During the event, Governor Varma commended the Tuberculosis Association of Telangana for its significant contributions to combating the disease and called for the association to ramp up its efforts to further reduce the incidence of TB in the state. The launch event was presided over by Dr. T.V. Venkateswarulu, who oversaw the election of a new executive body. Dr. Sudhir Prasad and Dr. C.N. Prasad were appointed as Vice Chairmen, while D. Balachander was named General Secretary.

The new executive committee also includes fifteen other selected members, as announced in a communiqué from Raj Bhavan. In closing, Governor Varma urged all stakeholders to strengthen their resolve in the battle against TB, emphasizing the need for collective action to achieve complete eradication of the disease in the coming years. With a focused approach and community involvement, Telangana is poised to make significant strides towards a TB-free future.
