Pune: As the roads in the city will be closed for traffic after 5 pm during Ganeshotsav, 66 routes of PMP have also been changed. Station-wise alternative routes will be used by the PMP.

During the Ganeshotsav period, there is a huge crowd from Saturday (September 7) to September 17. This resulted in a traffic jam in the city. In view of this, the traffic police have decided to close the roads in the central part of the city for buses and other traffic after 5 pm. Therefore, the PMP has changed the route of the parade to avoid inconvenience to students, employees, workers, devotees.


Trains going towards Swargate from Shivaji Road will be diverted via Tilak Road via Junglee Maharaj Road, Balgandharva, Deccan, Sambhaji Bridge instead of Shivaji Road. After Tilak Road is closed for traffic, trains on this route will come to Dandekar Bridge from Shastri Road and then proceed to Mitramandal Chowk from Laxmi Narayan Chowk via the usual route. The PMP has clarified that there is no change in traffic on Bajirao Road from Swargate to Shivajinagar. Routes 3 and 6 will remain closed during the festival period.

The route number 55 will be diverted from Nataraj station instead of Shanipar-Mandi during the closure period. The route of the bus will be via Ambil Odha Kalni, Senadatta police outpost. Trains number 58 and 59 will depart from Deccan Gymkhana and there will be no change in the route from Kothrud to Pune railway station. However, commuters coming from Pune station will be diverted via Sassoon Hospital, Maldhakka, Juna Bazar, Municipal Corporation Bhawan, Congress Bhawan, Balgandharva, Deccan Bus Stand and Khanduji Baba Chowk.



On the way to Pune station from Kondhwa Gate, Kelkar Satyan will proceed via Appa Balwant Chowk, Mal Mahal to Devji Baba Mandir Chowk, Gurudwara Road to Hamje Khan Chowk. While Laxmi Road will be closed for traffic coming from Pune station to Kondhwa Gate, it will come to Swargate from Modern Bakery Chowk via Seven Loves and from there to Deccan via Tilak Road via Nehru Stadium. After the closure of Shastri Road, the trains of route number 12, 42 and 299 will proceed to Deccan via Dandekar Bridge Senadatta Palis Chowki, Mhatre Bridge and Karve Road. The change will take place after 5 pm after the closure of the roads, the PMP said.
